Deviation Actions

I only come on deviantART to participate in the Photohunts on photohunt.  I've forgotten how to link to other user profiles.

I feel gypped by deviantART for taking the option of full-view on deviations away from free users.  Free users used to have the option to load a deviation in full-view by default, but now you have to be a premium subscriber to be able to set that option.  They took functionality away from the free users.

I have so much trash on my SmugMug that I will never be able to use it professionally unless I purge my entire account.  I pay for HD videos on SmugMug too, but it's mainly for archival purposes when I want to share my photos with family and friends.  The gallery hosting SmugMug uses is entirely too compacted

I can't call deviantART my home anymore.  I love Tumblr, but honestly Tumblr isn't built for hosting a gallery of art like dA.  I intend to purchase a Vimeo Plus account once I start getting serious about filming actual content, which will be $60/year and is for videos only.  I don't have any real alternatives.  RedBubble is a art distribution site first, art hosting site second; Artician rapes you with adds to hardly even be desirable to use even with AdBlock Plus installed with the browser.  Flickr has a 300MB upload limit per month.  What the hell is up with that?  Anyone have any suggestions?

Tumblr and Vimeo both were once 100% free services.  Tumblr then added premium themes, which are optional to the 10x more free themes.  Vimeo introduced a subscription plan that dumps advertising, allows source file downloads, HD embedding anywhere, and 5GB upload limit per week, over the 500MB upload limit per week.

If a service or site needs to subtract features that were once available to free users, later requiring a subscription to attain at least the same level of functionality they once had, is a bad service.  Tumblr and Vimeo did neither, and a both vibrant communities full of creative types and such.  Hell, even Notch, curator of Minecraft, prefers Tumblr as his primary blogging platform.

You had me deviantART, but you had to fuck with your user base.  Never take away features from the free crowd in favor of earning more revenue.  You may be a business, yes; you also have lacklustre morale.
